APCI Board of Directors Chairman Dale Johnson was inducted into the Alabama Pharmacy Hall of Fame on June 8, 2026, during the Alabama Pharmacy Association Annual Convention and Trade Show at The Lodge at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Established in 2015 by the Alabama Pharmacy Association, the Alabama Pharmacy Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the profession of pharmacy and to healthcare. Honorees are selected for work and accomplishments that bring honor to the pharmacy profession and distinguish them from the mainstream.

Johnson was recognized for his more than 50 years of service as an independent pharmacy owner, as well as his longstanding commitment to his community.

In addition to his pharmacy career, Johnson has served with the Sardis City Volunteer Fire Department, been PTA president at both Carlisle Elementary and Sardis High School, served on the Sardis City Water and Sewer Board, coached Dixie Youth Baseball, and participated in the Sardis Athletic Club. He has also served as both a volunteer and board member for Shepherd’s Cove Hospice and as chairman of the board for First Bank of Boaz and APCI.

Johnson’s previous honors include the Heart of Hospice Award, McKesson’s 2009 Health Mart Pharmacy of the Year, induction into the Legends of Etowah County Athletics, and the 2025 Bowl of Hygeia Award in Alabama.

From his biography in the Hall of Fame Program: “Dale Johnson is recognized as an exemplary leader in both the pharmacy profession and his community. Working tirelessly in what he calls “his mission field,” he has built a successful independent pharmacy centered on compassionate patient care and unparalleled service.”

Johnson is the owner of Boaz Discount Drugs in Boaz, Ala. A longtime member of APCI, he has been a member of the APCI Board of Directors for 15 years and is serving his sixth year as chairman.
